LONDON— Reed Elsevier (REL.LN +0.23% PLC) said Tuesday it has hired Nick Luff from U.K. energy major Centrica CNA.LN +0.84% PLC to be its chief financial officer as the Anglo-Dutch publishing company battles to adapt its business to the digital age. Mr. Luff, 46, replaces Duncan Palmer, who resigned as Reed’s CFO in September after barely a year in the role, citing unspecified family reasons.
